Doris J. Shaffor 85, of Latrobe (formerly of Derry) , died Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Her life was filled with family, friends and love. She was born Tuesday, November 10, 1931 in Derry, a daughter of the late William G. and Elva Libengood McBurney. Doris' greatest sense of accomplishment came with a job well done. For her, that meant being a nurse's aide at Torrance State Hospital for over 20 years. Following her retirement Doris worked at several part-time jobs for a number of years. Her largest sense of pride, however, came in being a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Robert "Bob" Shaffor (1969), five brothers; William Jr., Robert, Paul, Terry and Bryon McBurney.

Doris' light lives on in those she is survived by: her two daughters; Kathleen Sheffler (Dennis) of Latrobe and Roberta Martin (Patrick) of Derry. Five grandchildren; Sean Sheffler (Abby), Kristin Gigliotti (Fred), Megan McConnell, Chip and Jamie Crow. Three great grandchildren; Evan Gigliotti, Cooper and Elena Sheffler. Three sisters;Mary Lou Sano, of Akron, OH, Carol M. Weed (Earl) of Latrobe, and Evelyn Piper of Blairsville. A sister- in- law Joyce Barger of Blairsville. Several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday from 4-8pm in the McCabe Funeral Home 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a service will be conducted Saturday at 11 am with the Reverend Don Graff officiating. Interment will be made in the Union Cemetery, New Alexandria.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the dedicated and caring nurses and doctors at Excela Latrobe Hospital, Mt. View Specialty Care Center and Grane Hospice for their work in taking care of Doris.
