Elsie R. Smith, 68, died Monday December 4, 2017 in the Loyalhanna Care Center. She was born July 13, 1949 in Greensburg a daughter of the late Welty J. and Janet Wilson Newhouse.

Elsie had worked in many nursing homes in the area as a CNA. She was a kind hearted person who enjoyed bowling and watching little league baseball.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step mother Reba Mardis Newhouse, a grandson Bryan Newhouse, and four brothers; Charles and Ronald "Bud" Newhouse, James Eckenrode and Leonard Smith.

She is survived by her daughter Tammy Newhouse Babyak, grandaughter Lindsey Stull and fiancé, Dillon, great grandchildren Landyn and Nevaeh Leigh. Her brother Edwin Newhouse (Mary Jane) of Torrance, 5 sisters; Louise Karaschak (John) of Derry, Dorothy Riggle (James) of Avonmore, Shirley Jean Coulter (Mike) of McKeesport, Brenda Reno (Tony) of Elizabeth and Donna Dudley (Jesse) of Derry. Several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday from 12-2pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a service will be conducted at 2pm.
