Richard M. Bianco, 85 of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on September 22, 1931 in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Guy J. and Thelma (Emberg) Bianco.

Richard was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Punxsutawney Polka Club, where he loved to dance and listen to music. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. His favorite pastime was having coffee at McDonald's (Big Mac's Lounge) where he met up with the gang. He loved to tell jokes and stories, and always made people laugh, especially his two great nieces Kaitlyn and Megan Ray. He was a member of Saint Cosmas and Damian Church and enjoyed attending all of the festivals there.

He is survived by his wife; Rose Marie (Knopic) of Tinley Park, IL, one son; Perry Bianco of Tinley Park, IL, three brothers; Guy Bianco Jr. (Marie) of Fayetteville, NC, Jake (Marilyn) Bianco of Port Orange, FL, and Denny (DJ) Bianco of Punxsutawney, one sister; Monica Pierce of Punxsutawney and many of his polka friends and his second family at Mulberry Square.

He is preceded in death by one infant brother; Samuel Steven Bianco.

A memorial service will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the McCabe Funeral home in Punxsutawney with Reverend Allan Opper officiating.
