Richard D. Smith Sr., 59 of Irwin, PA., passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at his home.

He was the son of James E. and Leona (Wills) Smith and step-father, John Miller, born on October 31, 1958 in Ligonier, PA.

Richard was an avid mechanic and loved to make and build things.  He was a passionate fireman for the Baggaley Fire Co and a member of the Wendel Club in Irwin.  Richard loved his family and spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Albaugh) Smith; five children, George Timko (Deb), Charity Conrad (Charles), Rhonda Henderson (William), Amanda Smith-Chonko (Justin), Richard Smith Jr.; nine grandchildren, Victoria Payne Ayala (Jacob), Laura Conrad Fong (Chad), Miranda Henderson, Charles Conrad (CJ), Cameron Timko, Frankie Timko, Abigayle Henderson, Emma Timko, Jennifer Smith; one great-granddaughter, Cassidy Conrad; seven brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, and two brothers.

Friends will be received on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 3pm to 7pm at the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Ave. Derry.  A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 10am in the funeral home.  Interment will be private.
