Cheryl Kondrich Obituary

Cheryl J. Kondrich

Cheryl J. (Karasack) Kondrich, 69, of Cave Creek, Arizona, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 20, as a result of a tragic accident.

Cheryl was born November 23, 1948, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, to Frank and Jean Karasack. She was the oldest of four children and graduated from Derry Area High School in 1966. She worked at Kennametal after graduation and married the love of her life, Paul Kondrich on July 3, 1971 in Latrobe. The couple celebrated 47 years of marriage in July and were blessed with three daughters. Cheryl was the most loving “Nana” to five beautiful grandchildren, who were the center of her world.

Cheryl and Paul worked as a team to start PAKCO Industrial Ceramics. She was involved in Derry Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a Girl Scout Troop Leader, a member of the Ligonier Welcome Wagon, a St. Rose Parrish Council member, an active volunteer in Foothills Caring Corps in Carefree, AZ, and a volunteer/member at La Casa de Cristo Church in Phoenix.

Cheryl is survived by her husband and best friend, Paul Kondrich; their three daughters, Jeanne Doperak (Robert) of Latrobe, PA, Michelle York (Brandon) of Phoenix, AZ, and Megan Kondrich of Jersey City, NJ; three brothers Donald Karasack (Sharon), Thomas Karasack (Deborah) and Brian Karasack (Lisa);five grandchildren, Abigail and Maxwell Doperak, Emily, Jacob and Claire York; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Cheryl embodied God’s love here on earth. She was patient, kind and caring, with a compassionate heart and loving gentle soul. She was strong in her faith and taught by her example the most important lesson in life, to love. She always put others before herself, helped those in need, and gave to her family, her friends, her neighbors and her community. Cheryl always opened the doors to her home with hospitality and grace. She will live in our hearts forever and will remind us of her presence in the beauty that surrounds us.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Vincent Basilica in Latrobe, PA, on Saturday, August 11, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Cheryl to the charity of your choice.
