Linda Marie Schmidt

Linda Marie Schmidt, 67 years of age, peacefully passed on October 25,2022 at Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA to her eternal peace. She was surrounded by Sisters Elaine, Rita (Uncle Bill), Anna Irene, Lisa; Daughters Maria Hudson, Brianna Ofchinick (Ciara), Anna Niemiec, Niece Chrissy, Second niece Caitlynn, and close family friend George Buck.

Linda was born 8/28/55 In Pittsburgh, PA to the late Leonard and Mary Jean Bechtold. She was one of 11 children, 5 preceded her in death. She was a lifelong learner and had a multitude of interests.

Linda (aka) "Lynn" was loving wife to Brian Paul Schmidt. They married on March 8, 1994, and remained so until her death. Due to her broad range of interests, Linda, held various employment positions, because of her broad range of life skills knowledge.

The two employment positions she was most proud of and spoke of often were brick layer and personal health care worker. Linda had a heart of service and a creative soul.

Although born in the city her heart belonged to nature. She was an avid gardener and grew various plants. Her dream to open a florist never came to fruition due to her declining health; however, that did not stop her from growing some of the most beautiful flowers in our area. In fact, she won "Best Rose Garden" contest, and was featured in the Better Home Garden magazine. Some of her favorites were Lilies and Roses.

Linda had a deep love for her family and although she had difficulties expressing it, she expressed it through horticulture, scrapbooking and food.

Survived by Husband Brian Schmidt of Derry, PA, Husband of 28 years, Daughters Anna Niemiec (Robb), Maria Hudson, Brianna Ofchinick (Ciara), and Sons Jonnie Coco, and Adam Trax, Sisters Elaine Canterbury (David Canterbury), Rita Ankney (Bill), Anna Gubash (Paul), Lisa Bechtold, and Brother Tom Bechtold. Nieces and Nephews Christine Marie Corrales (Louis Corrales) Bill Ankney Jr (Christina), Mary Matson (Steven Olauson), Mark Whipkey, Susie Wise (Robert), Leah Bechtold, Justin Bechtold, Tony Bechtold, Jermaine Bechtold, Amanda Bailey, David Nicolazzo, Dee Garcia (George Colson), Leann Bechtold, Jesse Bechtold (Molly), Gabby Martinez, Savannah Martinez, Cameron Bonita and Casey Gubash. Grandchildren Hunter Niemiec, Ashton Niemiec, Bastian Trax, Nate Trax, Abigail Trax, Cole Coco, Nate Coco, Grand Baby Ofchinick due 12/21/2022,  and Great Grand Baby Niemiec due 11/22/2022. 

Preceded in passing: Parents Jean and Leonard Bechtold, Sisters Dolly Coco, Theresa Nicolazzo, Samantha Bechtold, Brothers Chucky Bechtold, and John Bechtold.

In addition to love of gardening, she loved spending time at the ocean. She loved the sound of the ocean waves and the sunset. Linda’ s ashes will be spread off the coast of Florida by her daughters at a later date.
