Loretta Newell Obituary

Loretta "Jean" Murphy Newell, 79, of Blairsville, passed away November 16, 2022. She was born April 10, 1943, in New Alexandria, a daughter of the late Torrance Jacob and Wilma (Quick) Murphy.
Jean was retired from Latrobe Hospital Little Shop and was the original owner of Grandma's Pizza Cafe in Derry. She was a member of the Harvest Church in Derry. In addition to her parents Jean is preceded in death by her husband Donald Regis Newell in 1997, four brothers James, William, Donald and Ronald Murphy, three sisters Mildred Stough, Mary Jane Gamble, and Margaret Correll. She is survived by four daughters Lou Jean Newell of Latrobe, Dawn Specht (Daniel) of Derry, Rhonda Libengood (Jerry) of Blairsville, Nancy Platt (Michael) of Blairsville, one son Donald Newell Jr. (Kelly) of Blairsville, one sister Lois Waldron of Latrobe and one brother Robert Murphy of Florida, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and her beloved dog Daisy.
Family will receive friends Sunday, November 20 in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 West Third Ave Derry from 2-4 and 6-8pm with a funeral service at 11 am Monday in the funeral home with Rev. Shawn Lyons officiating. Interment to follow in Coles Cemetery, Derry.
