Martha (Gombos) Garlow, 100, of N. Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, December 21st at Golden Heights Personal Care Home. She was born November 21, 1922, a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Marinechak) Gombos. She was a devout Catholic who was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and the Legion of Mary, and was always willing to help whenever needed.
Martha lived her life to the fullest and was very happy to celebrate her 100th birthday with family and the residents at Golden Heights. She was an avid traveler and visited nearly every state and many countries. She was always ready for any adventure - dog sledding in Alaska, camel riding in Egypt, parasailing off the coast of Florida, free-falling body sliding at Sand Castle in her 70's, and riding in a hot air balloon at age 80, just to name a few! A most memorable trait was her infectious smile.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Garlow; brothers, John and Stephen; sisters, Elizabeth, Catherine, Theresa, and Ann Gombos, Helen Sirnic, Margaret Gross, Mary Natale, Veronica Bertozzi, and Madeline Hamilton. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and lots of friends who all loved her dearly.
As per Martha's request, there will be no visitation or service. There will be a memorial mass at a future date.
Donations can be made to St. Agnes Church.
