Rabon Johnson Obituary

Rabon W. Johnson, 82, of Ligonier, passed away June 30, 2022 in Shadyside UPMC. He was born February 17, 1940 in Murphy, North Carolina
a son of the late William W. and Estelle (Pace) Johnson.  Rabon was a US Army veteran.  He was a member of Charter Oak Methodist Church.  In his lifetime he served as a Sunday school teacher and Deacon at other churches.  He was involved with many youths entering the Adelphoi  program.  He was a brown belt in Isshinryu karate and enjoyed gardening, leather crafting and always keeping his hands busy.
Some of his life enjoyments were being a camp host at the Prince Gallitzin state park and being a member of the Oak Grove Art Club.  Rabon is survived by his wife Karen Lee (Parks) Johnson, two sons Rabon D. Johnson (Beth) of Abingdon Md., Troy W. Johnson (Diana) of Latrobe, three grandchildren Carina Johnson, Noah and Liam Johnson, two brothers Lowell and Dean Johnson, two sisters Katheryn Stevens and Annette Walker, and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents Rabon is preceded in death by four brothers, James Kenneth, Roger E., Harold E., and Winston C. Johnson.
Family will receive friends Tuesday July 5, 2022 from 2 - 4 and 6- 8pm in the McCabe Funeral Home 144 East Main St. Ligonier, with a funeral service Wednesday, July 6 at 11am.  Interment to follow in Ligonier Valley Cemetery.  Ligonier Valley Honor Guard to present honors at 7pm in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Charter Oak Methodist Church.
